Chimney & Stove Sweeping:

All Top Cap staff are not to be left alone or unaccompanied in any building unless otherwise instructed to by writing. Cancellations are to be made 2 hours before the booking of any sweep or service. If a call out is booked and there is nobody there or the sweep cannot be competed, a fee of €50 may be applied in certain circumstances. When a sweep or technician arrives on site, the chimney or appliance must be accessible and in good working order unless Top Cap has been notified already. If a chimney or a appliance is not accessible due to bad installation or chimney problems you may be still charged for the call out. Top Cap uses power sweeping rods and to our knowledge these are the best rods and equipment for cleaning of chimney liners and flues, and only under certain circumstances Top Cap may use traditional rods in a sweeping. All cleaning and sweeping should be taken place on the building level of the chimney and appliance and only under extreme circumstances Top Cap may access the chimney via a roof. Top Cap will use a hoover at all times when sweeping to reduce the chances of soot spillage, however under certain circumstances the hoover may produce a smell, which should be clear within 30 minutes of exiting the building if the correct ventilation is applied. If any body in the premises may suffer from an illness or breathing problems, they should be notified of our arrival and asked to leave the building for precautionary measures. If a fireplace and surrounds is not installed correctly, while Top Cap takes precautions and proceeds slowly, Top Cap cannot be responsible for any damage or stains caused during a sweep to carpets walls, and surroundings sue to faulty installations of fireplaces and surroundings. Electricity is required by Top Cap to use the hoover and any other electrical devices we may require so please ensure there’s is sufficient and accessible means of power to be accessed by Top Cap.

Chimney Cowls & Installations:

Always seek professional advice before purchasing or installing a chimney cowl. Installing the wrong cowl and interfering with airflow may have an adverse effect to fumes and poisonous gases. Every open fire requires a vent in this room by law!

Upon agreeing to a quotations sent to you by top cap you agreeing to these terms and conditions.

Top Cap supply a variety of cowls from different manufactures. Top Cap is not responsible for manufactures warranties or guarantees of such product functions and functionality, design and ability to preform as stated by the manufacturer unless otherwise stated by Top Cap. Top Cap will follow manufacture guidelines to best of its knowledge for installations of cowls, and in certain circumstances if alterations have to be made, Top Cap will inform the customer of such alterations in order to make the cowl fit and may require the customers content of such alterations but not at the expense of covering manufacturer warranty unless stated by Top Cap. If a cowl is order to be supplied and installed, and cannot be fitted on the day, for any reason that was not made aware to Top Cap prior to arrival a fee may be applied for call out and delivery. This fee will never exceed €80, and the maximum fee will depend on location. Top Cap will use a hoist in order to access the roof in most cases. We may request that all motors be removed or moved in order to access the roof. If a residential property is being shared its required that all tenants are notified prior to our arrival and that we will passing windows and may have views of gardens or private areas via the roof, and Top Cap cannot be held responsible for any viewings or sighting that may occur accidental. All Top Cap work carried out external is weather permitting due to health and safety, jobs may be cancelled, delayed or postponed without notice. Jobs that have stock pre ordered may carry a fee due to customer cancellation because of weather permit.

Stove Installations

Upon agreeing to a quotations sent to you by top cap you agreeing to these terms and conditions.

All stove installations are carried out and/or are signed off by a HETAS trained installer. Signed for installations are the responsibility of Top Cap for the installations of the appliance and flue parts to the best of our knowledge. We are not responsible for the manufactured appliances and manufacture flue systems used as these carry there own warranty. Installations may be void from our responsibilities for the following reasons:

  • Interference with the appliance from a third party
  • In proper use of the appliance
  • Not following manufacture guidelines for the appliance
  • Burning of improper fuel for the appliance
  • Not following Top Cap recommendation for the installation
  • Not servicing the appliance within the guidelines
  • Continued use of the appliance after a fault has appeared or been displayed

All installations by Top Cap come with a free 14 day inspection of the appliances installation date if required or requested by the client.

If an appliance shows signs off or is experiencing any difficulties you are immediately to shut down your appliance, douse the flame out and contact the emergency services immediately if required, and then contact Top Cap immediately for a call out and inspection of the appliance. DO NOT USE the appliance until we have conducted a full inspection and clear it safe to use.

By signing and receipt or invoice you are declaring that you agree to Top Caps terms and conditions.

Chimneys and Twin wall insulations are installed to regulations. Installations and jobs are quoted for standard flue systems and cowls unless otherwise stated within the quote or prior to work commencing. Any additional cowls or parts required to assist with environmental changes or surroundings to a building that causes a standard flue system to be  modified or require extra parts and/or changes may incur additional charges or fees for the required parts and installation outside of the initial job quoted for.

Buildings and areas altered by Top Cap are cover by us for repair, leakage or damage, however unforeseen problems in a building that already exist or existed,  which may have an affect or cause an undesired effect to the outcome of alterations or construction by Top Cap, and that weren’t highlighted in the inspection or quote are not covered for in cost for repairs or alterations.

Payment:

Deposits may be required prior to work commencing for materials or date of booking. All forms of payments are excepted. When the job is complete and the stove and chimney verified working and tested unless otherwise agreed prior to the job starting full payment is then required by any means. Any delays in payment or retention not agreed prior to work commencing may incur a fee of 5% per week to the overall outstanding amount.

 

Cancellations of large jobs require at least 24 hours notice unless for extreme reasons 12 hours may be exceptable. Canellations on day when crews arrive can incurr charges of up to €400.00 to cover wages, travel and time down for the day in question.

 

 

BUILDING WORKS / RENEVATIONS / STRUCTURAL 

Fair contract policy and non disclosed or uncovered items/situations.

Non Disclosed Items/Circumstances/Situations

Whilst Top Cap and a party may enter into a contact for works, any items or information withheld from Top Cap that may interfere with the orignal works quoted for, may in circumstances require alterations to job and/or quote and will make the original entry contact void. COSTS for works already carried out may be still incured.

Fair Contract / Undiscoverable Items / Invisable Circumstances

Due to the nature of our business, and the invisablity/ impossibility of seeing through concrete/walls/structures, Top Cap quotes and building works are on the basis that the property/walls/structures/flues are built inline with current building techniques and regulations. Upon opening such areas of build, if structural work is defective and not in compliance with current building techniques or regulations and requires additional alterations/support or modifications to rectify, this will be left to the will of the customer to proceed (at further cost if required) to do the required amendments. However Top Cap can not be held liable for such structures or poor build/workman ship before arrival, also a party cannot hold Top Cap responsible for the repairs and not being able to proceed with intial works and/or not knowing the state of a build beofre opening such area of works. This is a fair contract policy in which we are able to compete in the industry for not overpricing for general standard works that mostly do not need to be done, but on occasions may be unveiled on certain jobs, with different outcomes/works or modifications required and different cost associated with the particular works to be carried out outside the intial contact of works.
