Rain Cowl
This is a simple and cost effective guard against rain for solid fuel fires.This guard comes in a Stainless Steel and a Terracotta finish.It provides protection from rain, snow, sleet and animals.
Top Cap Says: This cowl is for standard chimney pots, its the most basic requirement for any chimney to prevent rain and bird entry. A damp chimney in its self will cause problems from getting more dirty as the fumes will stick to the lining of the pots creating Tar and Creosote. Preventing water entering is also highly recommended for solid fuel stoves and fire – backs. The cowl is also certified safe for gas appliances.
Burning of acidic smokeless coals, no cowl company will give a lifetime expectancy.
Tip 1: It is advised to replace any crow guards with this cowl, as crow guards still allow small birds and nesting while giving no rain protection.
Tip 2: Spaying the cowl in WD40 for coastal areas may help slow down coastal erosion.

Anti Down-Draught Cowl
The most popular anti downdraght cowl in the Mad range.
It also provides protection from rain, snow, sleet and animals.
This cowl comes in natural aluminium, black, terracotta and a buff finish.
Top Cap Says: This cowl is for standard chimney pots, its most common uses is for diverting excessive wind in the chimney and reduces howling to minimum, and eliminates updraught and downdraught to the bear minimum without interfering with the natural draw of the chimney. The cowl is also certified safe for gas appliances.
We have not replaced one of these cowls in over 5 years, yet with the burning of acidic smokeless coals no cowl company will give a lifetime expectancy.
Tip 1: Black is recommended for open fires and stoves, as the terracotta quickly becomes dirty and over a period of weathering degrades quickly, the black remains cleaner looking for longer.

This cowl has moving parts and will seize if it’s not cleaned and maintained after around 2 years. After this point if its not lubricated or oiled it will start to squeak constantly until serviced.
It will increase fuel consumption whilst spinning. It is only for poor drawing chimneys with many bends.
Tip 1: It will not eliminate blow back from low built chimneys or obstructed chimneys.

Capping Cowl – For Unused Chimneys
This cap is designed to close off unused chimney flues.
It’s simple yet unique designs allows it to sit on top of the flue pot preventing animal, weather and wind entry.
Its legs allow you to adjust the cap for ventilation manually as required.
Top Cap Says: This is now the only cowl we use for unused chimney pots. It completely shuts down the chimney only allowing for the smallest of ventilation to clear any condensation and moisture build up. It also reduces outside noise significantly whilst completely stopping animals and debris deposits.
Tip 1: Always insure the cowl is not totally flush with the pot for evaporation to take place.

O H-Cowl For Chimney Clay Pots
The O H-Cowl is the recommend cowl for blow backs in a fire place. Normally caused by low chimney stacks and obstructions that can be around the chimney pot, and is mostly noticeable when winds are blowing in a certain direction.
This cowl is strap fitted and hand made from 316 stainless steel and is suitable for all fuels. Available in black on request.
